3rd WCH4 B Uptaded by Luiza Calegari - June, 26th DROPS NEWS WCH presentation at Reatech ADERES/Sorocaba/SP e ATACAR/Unipar/Toledo/PR made a presentation game of Wheelchair Handball, during the Reatech (Feira Internacional de Tecnologias em Reabilitação, Inclusão e Acessibilidade). The game had a great audience, of brazilian athletes with disability and dirigents of several modalities for disabilited people. WCH in UCB – Brasilia Oldemar Barbosa and professor Décio Calegari have been Universidade Católica de Brasília (UCB), giving a lecture to the students of Doctor Professors Tania Mara Vieira Sampaio and Elvio Marcos Boato, both teachers of Adapted Physical Education Besides the lecture, that explained all the main aspects of the modality, there was also a practical activity, in which the students could try the WCH. UCB has sportive wheel chairs, fact that made possible the practice There was a great repercussion. UCB is already studying the possibility of beginning trainings on Saturday afternoons
ATACAR/UNIPAR bi-champion in Itajaí! 8 victories in 8 games: the ATACAR/UNIPAR team was impecable in the 11th Itajaí Handball Cup. Two gold medals were the results of the efforts throughout one year. The Cup, in all its cathegories, has gathered 114 teams from Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.
Professor Anselmo de Athayde Costa e Silva, who is transferring to Unicamp, where he is going to study Master Degree, with work directed to WCH, and the team from ATACAR/UNIPAR, bi-champion of Itajaí Handball cup The event was also the farewell of athletes Paulo Emanuelli and Marcio dos Santos, who are transferring to Balneário Camboriú, where they are going to play Wheelchair Basketball and work for the implantation of WCH.

Itajaí Handball Cup!
The world’s second WCH competition, and the first one to have teams from different states, 11th Itajaí Handball Cup occurs from 22nd to 28th, January 2009. The news this year is the participation of Centro de Esportes Adaptados (Center of Adapted Sports) de Francisco Beltrão, a brand new team from the city of Francisco Beltrão. The team is supported by municipal administration, and has Elisandra Lauffer as coach. You can check here the results of the games! Wheelchair Handball in a CHBh event! The Wheelchair Handball was subject of a lecture during the VII National Meeting of Handball Professors of College Institutions, an event organized by the Brazilian Confederation of Handball (CBHb), in the city of Bonito/BR. The event happened from October 22th to 26th, and was supported by the Sul-Matogrossense Handball Federation and UNIDERP/Anhanguera. The Meeting is promoted anually by CBHb, and discusses the tendencies and perspectives of Brazilian Handball. The invitation for the WCH presentation came from the Confederation president, Professor Manoel Luiz Oliveira. He showed enthusiasm with the proposal: “the initiative of adapting the Handball to the Wheelchair practice is motivating and dynamical, and puts the Brazilian handball as protagonist in the world scene”. To the professor Decio Roberto Calegari, “showing our proposal in this which is the main universitary event of handball was an unique experience, and I believe that, with the support of CBHb we have consolidated the development of the WCH in Brazil”. Also because of the event, the WCH is going to be included in a didatic book about Handball, which is being organized by professor Dr. Pablo Greco, from UFMG. The invitation was accepted and rapidly attended by professor Décio, who sent him specific material.

Official picture, with all the participants of the event. 2008 EHF Wheelchair Handball Event The European Handball Federation is promoting an event, that will happen in Viena, Austria, from 10th to 11th, October. In the words of the organisers, the proposal of the event is to be "acombination of a seminar and a small tournament and shall give allinterested people the possibility to learn, understand and spread theidea of Wheelchair Handball." ICSEMIS - 2008 About the event, it is important to mention the
multidisciplinary aspect, and the importance of the interchange between
researches from many areas of knowlegde. It deserves a register the
initiative of the organization of the event, by rewarding with
scolarships more than 70 researchers, giving preference to those from
undeveloped or emerging countries. Professor Decio presented the work “PERFORMANCE
ANALISYS OF WHEELCHAIR HANDBALL PLAYERS IN LOCAL COMPETITION”, in which
he discusses the actions developed by WCH that participated in the 3rd
Handball West Cup, that happened in the campus of Unipar/Toledo, in May
of 2007. Helped in the article the teachers: Dr. Paulo Ferreira de
Araujo, associated director fo the Physical Education College, and Dr.
José Irineu Gorla, Manager of the Adapted Physical Education
Departament, both from Unicamp; Ricardo Alexandre Carminato,
Coordinator of the Physical Education Course in Unipar/Cianorte; and
Anselmo do Athayde Costa e Silva, professor at FAESI/Uniguaçu, in São
Miguel do Iguaçu, and of Incomar School, in Toledo. To the WCH, that was an opportunity to increase
the international interchange, through the contacts that were made (in
the pictures), and specially, to disseminate the initiative, once the
members of the Science Comission of IPC (International Paraolympic
Committe) were at the event. The initiative of adapting the Handball to
Wheelchairs was also praised by professor Gudrun Doll Tepper, president
of ICSSPE – International Council of Science of Sports and Physical
Education – who as a handball athlete and showed interest in publishing
the WCH book, that has already had its portuguese edition approved by
Phorte Editor. Profesor Decio receive his certificate of Dr. Peter Van Vliet, from Belgium. Profesor Decio gives a t-shirt of wheelchair handball to Dr. Gudrun Doll Tepper, President of ICSSPE. She was a handball player in germany. Profesor David Wang, Secretary General from Taipei Sports Association for the Physycally Disabled also receive a t-shirt of wheelchair handball. Agueda Gomes, from Angola - Africa, also was handball player, and was very excited with the wheelchair handball. ITAJAI HANDBALL CUP 2009!
